As the school’s new Principal, I cannot begin to tell you how proud I am to have joined this community.
I have led a number of schools, and have supported them all to improve their outcomes and Ofsted grades. It would be fair to say, however, that none of them had the same potential that Fulwood Academy has.
This is a school with brilliant students, dedicated and talented staff and facilities that are the envy of many other schools.
I am so disappointed that I can't tell you about this in person. Covid-19 has meant that we can't open our doors to our community - so we have done everything we can to try and find the next best thing.
So please do take the time to watch our virtual videos below. They really do give a flavour of what life at our school is like - and we are very excited by the trajectory that we are on.
This video gives you a flavour of what life is like at Fulwood Academy. We are a community that always does our best and accepts no excuses.
Hear from our subject leads about the exciting things that will engage and excite your child.
Moving to secondary school is a milestone in any child's life. There are, understandably, many questions - and we hope this video helps answer just a few of them.
"Leaders have developed a strong personal development curriculum…Pupils are taught how to be responsible citizens. They learn to respect people who have different beliefs and values to their own."
"I am speechless and so grateful for all the support I have had. I am hoping that these grades will start me on the path to get to Oxbridge, which is something that I really want to explore when I get to Cardinal Newman College."
"This school is incredible. When lockdown happened we didn't expect that the school would play such an important role in helping our family stay safe and healthy, get online and stay educated. Thank you."
Our GCSE results in 2020 saw significant improvements.
Mr Lancaster said: "Up until Covid struck, students were giving it their all and were on a very positive trajectory. The grades they have achieved, which have been through a very robust moderation process, truly reflect their individual talents and determination.”
"You have some fantastic facilities at Fulwood Academy. if you look after yourself, which is about your body and your mind, the world is a fantastic place that is full of opportunities. You are the only one who controls what you do and what you can achieve.”
"As you walk into the academy you have a huge quote from Nelson Mandela on the wall that reads: Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
“Reading those words is one thing, but knowing the person who said them is another. Knowing the stories and background behind the quote make the essence of it so much more powerful."
Through the Dunstone Education Trust, Fulwood has not only been able to support students facing their exams next year with devices and broadband connection, but they are also trialling technology to help students keep fit and healthy.
Mr Lancaster said: “This mixture of digital innovation, pastoral care and practical support is helping us not only help our students during lockdown, but enhance our learning offer for the next academic year."
